Let’s journey into the world of Jamie Tao, an art director residing in Miami, Florida. Originally from Foz do Iguaçu, Brasil, Jamie gets inspired by everything and everyone that enters her life.  I would like to share her mainly typographic drawings with you. If you would like, you can visit her website for more drawing, advertising and design work.

“I get lines stuck in my head all of the time. And my table is a complete mess 24/7. I can’t work without a large (sometimes multiple) cups of coffee, really good music, books for inspiration as I work, and all types of pens and markers all around me.” Jamie was kind enough to document her process to share with us today of a new collage she created as her way to unwind.

I always find the process so interesting, for any art work. I love watching how a certain idea begins and continually evolves as the piece begins to unfold. Although some people find process work tedious and unnecessary, I think experimenting, and having lots of it can only strengthen your work. The fun part is that you usually don’t know how a piece is going to turn out when you begin. What do you think?

I love Jamie’s work, and enjoy the freedom and limitless possibilities she creates, it’s so playful and experimental. It seems careless to me, like she does what comes to her and what she feels. The messages within her drawings through typography and collage are so great and of course serve as an extension to the illustrations and vice versa. They play off each other so well, do you agree?

Thanks for sharing your wonderful work with us Jamie!
