It’s Friday at last, and I couldn’t be more excited and motivated to start a productive weekend! What are your plans? I plan to do a LOT of spring cleaning, get some groceries, clean and organize my apartment, and complete a freelance project I have been working on as well, which should free up some time for me to work on other things. It’s not all work though, as I’ll going to a barbecue tonight to celebrate my sister’s birthday as well.

Next Friday I will be traveling to New York City for 4 days with a few of my girlfriends for a little time off and a good time together. It will be a good change of pace, and I will be scouting for some shops and design inspiration to share!

I have been to the city quite a few times before, and I’ve covered the usual tourist sites so this trip will be all about having fun, shopping, finding new places to see, and looking for art and design inspiration! And I’d love to hear your thoughts, and get your advice. From exhibitions, craft shows, flea markets, beautiful shops, do you have any tips? I’d love to spend some time in the Brooklyn art scene, I know there’s so much talent that emerges from there! What’s absolutely not-to-miss in New York? I’d love to hear about the must-sees!

Hi, where do you stay when you go?
I’m going to NYC in September with 2 friends, all the way from South Africa and have been battling to find somewhere reasonable to stay. Most of the places I have seen are either hellishly expensive for what you get or they turn out to be hoaxes!
We just want somewhere nice to sleep, preferably self catering so we can come and go and central, as we’re going to trawl the city like you are! Can you recommend anything!?
    Thanks ashe

The Stardust Diner on Broadway and 51st. The lovely servers there pass the mic around and belt out Broadway and other popular tunes while strolling around (and sometimes on) the booths and tables. Dinner (or breakfast or lunch) and a show!

You could go to the Chelsea Art Museum. There are also lots of little art galleries around that area. SoHo and the East Village are good places to go shopping.

I am so excited for you! NYC is amazing… and this time of year the weather is getting warmer and so walking outside and exploring wont feel like you are in a freezer :)

I just went to NYC a couple of months ago… I do have some recommendations:
    - Sunday Brunch at Regal – go at before 1.00 pm and party on the tables while drinking Rose wine
    - Kiss and Fly and Juliet are 2 clubs that are fun
    - A carriage ride around central park – it sounds a little corny but its actually so much fun
    - Shopping on 5th Ave
    - Lunch at Seraphinas – an italian restaurant! the decor is so funky
    - Dinner at Koi – Japanese fusion restaurant.. It is kind of like Zuma and Nobu

Have an amazing time in NYC :)
