Lately I feel like I’ve been swaying towards neutrals and whites, and it’s to make up for it because color plays such a large role in my life, and always positively affects me. Of course color psychologically can make you feel happy, sad, motivated or energetic, and a little touch of it here and there can brighten up a house and add a little contrast and personality. Let’s look at some color inspiration from Bolig magazine with photographs of a gorgeous light and bright 1908 old villa.
Photographed by Bjarne B Jacobsen, and located in Odense, Denmark, this home belongs to shop owner Susanne Borgard, her husband and two children. With pure white walls and modern Scandinavian design, this home could have looked too stark and clean. But instead, it feels so elegant and welcoming, don’t you think? The combination of color, pattern and texture creates so much visual interest as the white walls create a blank canvas for the rest of the decor and accessories to steal the show.
I’m in the ideas and research stage of redecorating my living room, and white walls seem like the best way to go. I get a lot of natural light through my large windows, so it would brighten up the space and I feel like white is pretty neutral, so it’s not a very rich color that you can get tired of easily. That’s what I love about it, white offers all the flexibility when decorating – paint is an easy and cheap option to change, and white is a great base for any other color. As shown in these gorgeous photos, furniture and accessories really pop against the white background, and if you’re thinking of pairing the modern look with an eclectic mix of vibrant colors and patterns, you’ll get a great and perfectly balanced match.
Incorporating interesting rugs and textiles adds so much richness and contrast to your space that can also be changed and updated easily and cheaply according to the season if you like to change things up every once in a while. You can always buy fabric to create pillow covers, curtains, throws, and maybe even place mats and napkins. I have yet to try to make something, but it is on my to-do list!
I will be taking the day off tomorrow since I will be turning 22! Have a wonderful Wednesday and I’ll see you back here on Thursday with a new set of some favorite shops for you to dive in! For now, visit the Bolig Magazine online for lovely home and interior inspiration.
