Have admired london-based designer coralie bickford-smith’s gorgeous work for quite some time and even more after recently seeing the book covers for the penguin great food series, which bring “the finest food writing from the last 400 years”; so elegantly designed and illustrated with pretty lettering, featuring beautiful ceramics particular to each book according to the period and necessary utensils.

Wishing you a perfect weekend, and hope it’s beautiful where you are, xo

In the midst of endless assignments and late nights are incredibly inspiring guest lecturers and studio visits with industry leaders and design entrepreneurs; and so far, it has been swiss miss, ross macdonald, and most recently, the lovely and tremendously talented louise fili, whose studio is a dream, and work is even better.

Specializing in logo, package, restaurant and book design, louise discussed her experience in the industry and the projects she has designed, and her everlasting passion for italy, which she speaks of ever so fondly – and while browsing the flawless collection, personal favorites are the hand-lettering and stunning typography of Sarabeth’s, Aventino and L’Arte del Gelato, all perfectly elegant and sophisticated.

Hope you had a lovely weekend and have an even more beautiful new week. xo

This weekend was a little relaxation, afternoon coffees and a lovely visit to the museum of modern art for the “talk to me” exhibit by paola antonelli – a wonderful exploration of the way technology redefines the evolving relationship between people and objects. Enjoyed such compelling and interactive designs that refine objects into a combination of function, form and meaning, and draft a script that develops a dialogue and embodies a new balance between technology and people.

Also, while at the museum, although not able to photograph, highly recommend a visit for a beautiful look into the work of de kooning, a retrospective, devoted to the full scope of a career of nearly 200 works from public and private collections, and including paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints ranging from figurative paintings to the urban abstractions and black and white compositions.

Have always had an affection for handwritten notes, and find few things more charming than postcard letters filled with beautiful sweet nothings from your loved one, and especially when they feature personable illustrations like a heart-shaped hot air balloon or a pretty three-tier cake.

There may be just a few things more charming than the combination of passionate italian words and handwritten type, and if you do agree, perhaps you will find the allure in illustrations of simple beauties for kitchen walls for food and life lovers from anek shop in croatia.
